SIS and PAX: Partners in International Education

Attending the Homecoming dance, enjoying all-American breakfasts with their host family, dreaming in English, giving baseball a try… These are just some of the activities that SIS high school students have been up to in the U.S. for more than two decades. And for all that time(since 1995), SIS has been working together with American partner PAX – Program of Academic Exchange to make it happen!

Founded in 1990, PAX is a not-for-profit educational organization and one of a select few U.S. Department of State-designated Exchange Visitor Programs chosen to administer prestigious U.S. Government-sponsored programs.

From its offices in Seattle and the Greater New York City area and with the support of more than 300 committed volunteers and 600 welcoming high schools throughout the U.S., PAX has successfully guided more than 20,000 teenagers from over 70 countries through its Academic Year USA exchange student program. These students apply what they learn in their U.S. community to their future careers and incorporate American traditions into a new, richer, and multi-layered worldview.

Harrow House International College and SIS Intercambio have worked very closely and very sucessfully together for the last 25 years to give students from Brazil the best possible educational programmes and life experiences. SIS take exceptional care in preparing their students, helping them to make the most of their chosen study option and we at Harrow House value that greatly. The students we have received have all been incredibly enthusiastic and outgoing and make a huge contribution to campus life on both our Junior and High School programmes.

NorthWest Student Exchange includes SIS-Intercambio in São Paulo, Brazil among its most reliable international partners. For the past eleven years NWSE has worked with SIS to recruit, screen and supervise Brazilian students who successfully participated in our semester and academic year J-1 high school programs in the United States.

For decades SIS-Intercambio has provided its participants with excellent exchange programs. Their experience, competence and sincere dedication to participants are exemplary in the student exchange industry.

Pembina Trails School Division in Winnipeg, Canada represents the largest and longest-running (since 1995) international student program in Central Canada for the K to Grade 12 public education sector. We have been a proud partner of Student Information Services (SIS) in Brazil since 1997. In fact, they were our very first partners in Brazil! Together we have provided a study abroad experience in the heart of Canada for more than 50 Brazilian high school students. It is a pleasure to work with such a professional organization that provides great support and expertise in the area of international education. Their pre-departure orientation is excellent at preparing the students for what to expect while they are studying abroad (e.g. airport arrival, living with a homestay family, attending school in a foreign country, making international friends). And that is just the beginning. SIS’s warm and friendly staff is always close by throughout their student’s time in our program. Their prompt and efficient responses to requests for information or other services is greatly appreciated and always in the best interest of the student. Greenheart Exchange, a division of Greenheart International, has had the great privilege of working with SIS Brazil since 1992 facilitating high school exchange programs for Brazilians interested in studying in the U.S. Sharing a passion for environmental stewardship, all students coming to the United States on a high school exchange program with SIS and Greenheart Exchange are encouraged to participate in local volunteer projects through the Greenheart Club. SIS Brazil has demonstrated a profound commitment to their students and families over the years and we are grateful for their many years of continued partnership.

We are proud to count SIS as ICX partner.
SIS and ICX have been working together in the field of international students’ exchange since 1992. The partnership applies to the ICX program “Academic Stay in Germany” giving international students the opportunity to attend a German high school while living with a German family. SIS is responsible for recruiting Brazilian students qualified for the program, screening them, overseeing the submission of their complete, accurate and attractive applications, conducting pre-departure orientations, serving as liaison to natural parents during the students’ Germany stay, and providing responsive and supportive assistance if problems arise. In all respects, the services provided by SIS have been outstanding. SIS is very committed to the idea of international understanding through cross-cultural exchanges and represents it with a high level of professionalism.
